Resources for Lake Associations (NYSDEC)

The New York State Federation of Lake Associations, Inc. (NYSFOLA)

The New York State Federation of Lake Associations, Inc. (NYSFOLA) was founded in 1983 by a small consortium of lake associations concerned about a variety of problems facing their lakes. Water quality was of concern to nearly all of the lakes, and there was little information available on methods to combat the increasing presence of aquatic invasive species.

Indian River Lakes Conservancy

The Indian River Lakes Conservancy was formed in 1998 to conserve critical lands in the Indian River Lakes area of Northern New York. Henry Carse, a pioneering environmentalist and civic leader, inspired the conservancy formation with his gift of the Osprey Point Marsh on Butterfield Lake. In 2003, his second gift of more than 800 acres between Butterfield and Grass Lake became the Grand Lake Reserve.

Adrondack Center for Loon Conservation

The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation and its partners have conducted studies on the Adirondack loon population since 1998, including research on the impact of environmental pollutants on Adirondack loons, factors affecting loon reproductive success, migration, health, and more.
